TRIUMPH RACING NEWS
BSS at Donington
Thursday, June 5, 2008

After recovering from Anglsey we find Marcus at BSS Donnington for another exciting weekend.
Sunday Qualifying
Session 1-36th
With the never ending threat of rain Marcus and team opted for the soft rear tyre for the start of the session. Marcus began the session with improvement from last year by dropping straight into the 1.39s with a best lap time of 1.38.8 and qualified 36th having been as high as 17th in the first ten minutes.
Session 2- 19th
By this time the rain had set in and Marcus was set for a new experiment 'Pirelli Wets' this being his first time on the controlled tyres. So using this session Marcus and team concentrated on setup for the slippery Donnington park knowing the grid position was set at 36th. Posting a 1.57.4 Marcus was 19th quickest and had stayed upright (even heading an Embassy Triumph!).
Monday Race- 29th
After heading for the grid with the gale force winds that were hitting Donnington Marcus managed an excellent start, only to get boxed in down Craner Curves leaving him in 38th. Marcus immediately set about moving up the field, picking people off one by one. The wind kept battering the bike and at one point Marcus stated that the wind blew his crash helmet sideways across his face while braking into Redgate! He was gradually gaining on the rider in 28th but then seemed to loose concentration and ended up making a few big mistakes and dropping his times by around a second for two laps. This dropped him back into the hands of a hard charging Triumph, after battleing dramatically for the final lap Marcus crossed the line as the victorious of the two finishing 29th overall.
Marcus concluded the weekend by saying a huge thanks to Becky and Ben for their support and a big thank you to Triumph for producing the best sounding and well supported 600 bike on the market. His bike only has the standard Triumph Race kit and yet he was top 20s in the speed traps 147.4 mph only 4 mph down on the WSS Hondas.
Marcus stated to have learnt a great deal from the weekend knowing he will return to BSS much stronger for Oulton Park on July 20th.
His next New Era Superclub round is Pembry 14th and 15th of June.
