After three years as R.A.T. Pack Leader, Simon Whatley has had to make the painful decision to step down due to increased work and family commitments. I think we will all agree that it is primarily thanks to Simon’s considerable efforts and commitment that the Jack Lilley R.A.T. Pack has enjoyed so much success over the past three seasons. I’m sure you will all join me in thanking him whole heartedly for his leadership and organisational skills, and for the many great ride-outs and events we have enjoyed thanks to his work. Cheers Simon, now maybe you can just sit back and enjoy the ride!
So who is to be our new King, or Queen, R.A.T.? Well one name has come up time after time while discussing this very issue with members, a name that may well be familiar to a number of R.A.T. members from other packs, especially if you attended last years annual Triumph R.A.T. Pack end of year party where she won ‘Chattiest R.A.T.’ I am of course talking about the unique and delightful, Speed Triple riding, Sofia Durao.
I’m sure Sofia’s irrepressible humour, inexhaustible energy, and enthusiasm for all things motorcycling and Triumph Speed Triples especially (order already placed for a new Roulette Green one) will mean many great rides and events for 2007.
Welcome Sofia, here’s to a fun filled 2007!

Thruxton BSB – April 2006
For the Thruxton BSB round we managed to blag free tickets, now that was far more pleasant. A small but enthusiastic group (two bikes) met at the shop for the run to Thruxton. After a steady trip (Mick is still running in his new 675) the nippy morning had us stopping for a coffee and a warm up at Popham services.
The meeting was well attended with the bike parking almost full by 11:00am. The day bloomed into warm sunshine and perfect race weather.
After meeting up with the Paul Young team and an update on his practice and qualifying we had a stroll around the pits where my young son met Michael Rutter (less chatty than Paul) and we saw quite a few of the well known racers.
All in all a great day out with the icing on the cake that Paul put his first points on the board, with his bike pulling like a train in the latter part of the race and reeling in the group ahead before he ran out of laps, but what promise for the next round !!
